Of course, most musical artists strive for individuality and creativity.  However, you have to sometimes wonder how much of their wardrobe and accessories are actually their personality coming out or is manufactured by publicists and managers.  Accessories, such as guitar straps, jewelry, and shoes, clothes, and other items all have a way of exuding a certain persona.  The only question is how much of that persona actually has a person underneath it?

One of the most well-know new country artists, Miranda Lambert, is known for her flamboyant, custom guitar straps, specially designed and made just for her.  Aside from the pretty colors, though, what is the point in customizing guitar straps?  This is quite possibly a true personal preference of Miranda Lambert, as it was Joe Walsh and many other musicians.  The reason so many people prefer custom guitar straps is that the length and width are made to their specifications.  In other words, these are far more comfortable than just any other guitar strap.

So we found one that was genuine, how about some that are manufactured.  Perhaps no other artist, or group of artists, was invented quite to the extent that the Spice Girls, Vanilla Ice, or O-Town was.  Looking back, we certainly hope Vanilla Ice was told to dress like that and did not do so on his own accord!  The interesting thing was, with O-Town, everyone knew they were fake; it was being aired on television every step of the way!  While some of their music was all right, every other step was choreographed.  However, it did not seem to affect their popularity.  Of course, they disappeared shortly after their first record came out, never to be heard from again.

In the rocker world, there are a few more that seem to be genuine in the personalities they show the world.  The members of Aerosmith are a perfect example of honesty in advertising.  Why?  Because if they were lying, they would have slipped up a long time ago and shown us their true selves!  They are like the Rolling Stones – anyone that has been around that long, has to be the real deal.

So, what do guitar straps, clothes, and accessories say about the artist wearing them?  A great deal apparently.  Not only does it say what kind of people they are and are not, it seems to foretell the viability of their careers.  Fad artists that are told what to think, say, and do every step of the way seem to fizzle out in a matter of seconds compared to their honest counterparts!
